To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I've Loved Before  by Jenny Han is a very interesting book. It is also a movie on Netflix which is where a lot of people have heard of it. This book tells the story of a girl named Lara Jean that has a habit of writing letters to boys that she has crushes on. She keeps all the letters in a box in her room, just for her. One day, the letters "accidentally" get sent and all the boys that she had a crush on now know her secret. Lara Jean especially doesn't want a particular boy to know that she still likes him so her and a guy named Peter pretend to date. They start to spend a lot of time together and things happen... I recommend this book highly for those that enjoy a type of romantic comedy movie in book form. I really enjoyed reading this book and Lara Jean's story also continues in the following two books in the trilogy.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

If I Stay is a young adult fiction novel written by Gayle Forman. It tells the story of a girl named Mia who is a prodigy cello player. One day, her family went in their car on a road trip. While they were on the road, they got involved in a very bad car accident that left her parents dead at the scene. Her and her brother get taken to the hospital where they fight for their lives. Mia is in a coma and she is able to see everything that is happening in the present around her. She roams the hospital and sees her grandparents there for her and her brother. She later finds out that her brother passes away from unexpected reasons. Still in the coma, Mia reflects on all the things that has happened to her leading up to that point and needs to decide if she will stay or give in to death. I recommend this book for people that like suspense/romance. While the focus is not on romance, there is a strong plot line that involves romance with Mia and another character in the book. I think that this...

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Trilogy) by Jenny Han

This series is within the romance genre and tells the story of a girl named Isabel, but everyone calls her Belly. It is summer break and every year, her family goes to visit her mom's friend and sons at a beach house. They all stay together in the beach house and have been going there for so long that she and her brother Steven has their own rooms. The sons of her mother's friends are named Jeremiah and Conrad. Belly has had a crush on Conrad forever, but he has always seen her as Steven's little sister. On this summer particular, she "turned pretty" (I think it means that she hit puberty or something) so she could impress Conrad. The rest of this series takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and cringe, but it's still a pretty interesting read. I recommend this series for those that are not looking for something serious to read, but something to read for pleasure.

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

The Divergent Series is a trilogy with its books entitled  Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant . There is also a fourth book entitled Four that tells stories from a different character's point of view. The Divergent series takes place in a world where there are five factions, or groups that every person belongs in, unless you are factionless. The four factions are candor, dauntless, amity, erudite, and abnegation. Candor values honesty, dauntless values bravery, amity values neutrality, erudite values knowledge, and abnegation values selflessness. According to society, everyone needed to belong to one faction as determined by an aptitude test. The main character, Tris, has an aptitude test that matches her to more than one faction, making her divergent. As she was taught that they are only meant to belong to one faction, she hides her divergence until she learns that divergent is who she is.  This series was a very interesting read involving a mix of adventure, romance, and...
