The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars  by John Green tells the story of a girl named Hazel Grace Lancaster and a boy named Augustus Waters. They both are battling cancer. This book tells their love story and their ways to cope with living with the disease. They bond over similarities as well as differences. They have their ups and downs with being checked into the hospital multiple times. However, the greatest twist in the book happens when Augustus suffers a relapse. Hazel needs to learn how to cope with seeing Augustus in pain and her own pain as well. I highly recommend reading this book and watching the movie. In my opinion, the movie portrays John Green's perspective of the book very well. I like this book because it portrays the bad in life and does not sugar coat the things that can happen to us.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald tells the story of a Woman named Daisy Buchanan and a man named Jay Gatsby. The book is told in the perspective of a man named Nick Carraway, who is Daisy's friend from a long time ago and Gatsby's neighbor. Jay Gatsby is a very wealthy man that is known for throwing wild parties every night. When Gatsby finds out that Nick knew Daisy, he tells him to invite her to one of his parties. It is revealed later in the book that Gatsby actually is in love with Daisy. Unfortunately, Daisy has a husband named Tom. There is a lot of drama that go on in the rest of the book with Gatsby pursuing Daisy and Nick getting to know the real Gatsby. I recommend that people who like mystery and suspense read this book, as there are a lot of surprises that happen.
