The Hunger Games Series

Although The Hunger Games is known for being a very popular movie series, it is a very interesting and amazing book series as well. The books tell the story of a girl named Katniss living in a dystopian world, in district 12. She lives in a time where there is a place with total control called the Capitol that controls their every move with 'peacekeepers' monitoring them with guns to keep them obedient. They control when they eat, what they eat, and where they get to go. Every year, there is an event that is called The Hunger Games that is televised throughout all 12 of the districts. In each district, 2 children are chosen at random to fight to the death. The capitol, however, do not force their children to participate, as they are the ultimate ruler. The rest of the series centers around Katniss and her journey to win the games, escape the capitol, and bring justice to all the districts that were harmed. I highly recommend this book even for people that have already watched the movie. This book goes into more depth than the movie and has a way of immersing the reader into the story. It gets people thinking if there will come a point where The Hunger Games are not just an event in a book.

    I loved the Hunger Games Series! One of my favorites! After looking through your posts, it seems we may have similar likes in books! I highly recommend the Lunar Chronicles and A Court of Thorns and Roses! Those are two of my favorite series! Let me know if you've already read them and what you think!

    I loved watching the Hunger Games movie! I am not much of a reader, but your post makes the book sound so interesting I feel like I should also read about the Hunger Games as well although I've already saw the movie!

The rest of this series takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and cringe, but it's still a pretty interesting read. I recommend this series for those that are not looking for something serious to read, but something to read for pleasure.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

If I Stay is a young adult fiction novel written by Gayle Forman. It tells the story of a girl named Mia who is a prodigy cello player. One day, her family went in their car on a road trip. While they were on the road, they got involved in a very bad car accident that left her parents dead at the scene. Her and her brother get taken to the hospital where they fight for their lives. Mia is in a coma and she is able to see everything that is happening in the present around her. She roams the hospital and sees her grandparents there for her and her brother. She later finds out that her brother passes away from unexpected reasons. Still in the coma, Mia reflects on all the things that has happened to her leading up to that point and needs to decide if she will stay or give in to death. I recommend this book for people that like suspense/romance. While the focus is not on romance, there is a strong plot line that involves romance with Mia and another character in the book. Matched Series by Allie Condie

The Matched series by Allie Condie is a very interesting read. It takes place in a dystopian world where your "soulmate" is chosen for you based on compatibility. Things take a turn when a girl named Cassia gets two matches: Xander and Ky. Eventually, the government tells her that her true match is Xander, but she finds herself falling for Ky. The rest of the series revolves around Ky and Cassia's forbidden love. At one point, Ky gets taken away and Cassia goes on a mission to reunite with him. I really like this series because it has suspense along with mystery to it. It also shows that even if people are compatible on paper, you cannot choose who you fall in love with. I highly recommend this series for people who like the idea of forbidden romances and for all the hopeless romantics.
